The new and improved vintage Horse Sofa Bench

This truly was a work-in-progress!

I think I changed my mind enough times to not even remember what my first choice was…..until I found this fantastic black and white fabric with all these crazy swirls which reminded me of the wood work on the horses’ mains – a perfect match. And then there was no question which color to paint the frame.

And just for the sake of it, a before and after shot:

LATEST PROJECT: HORSE SOFA BENCH

While visiting a friend a couple of weekends ago, I found this horse sofa bench (for lack of better words) hidden in a not so lightened corner of her basement and just had to bring it home! It is in fairly sound shape: I will keep you posted on the progress…

Update on the Louis XV style armchairs

A while ago I posted about these two Louis XV style armchairs that I found in the exact condition as in the photo.

I haven’t forgotten about them…. They are still a work in progress, so I thought I would post a photo showing what I have done so far. I sanded them, glued them, raised the seat…. you name it, I had to do it! They are now lacquered a light shade of blue-gray that picks up a color found in the back rest (the back of the chair has been reupholstered with the same fabric as the seat). As you can surely tell, the chairs are still missing the finishing touches, those details that really do make the difference and are, in my opinion,  the most important part of any makeover. I will soon post the finished project and let you know when they will be for sale.
